Practice Policy

This page outlines the policies and procedures of our practice, which help ensure safe, respectful, and high-quality healthcare. It explains what you can expect from our team, as well as your responsibilities as a patient, and supports clear communication and the best possible care.

Appointments

Each appointment is for one patient and is scheduled to focus on a single medical issue. If you have more than one concern, please let our reception team know so we can book a separate appointment for each, ensuring we have enough time to address every problem thoroughly.

Cancellation Policy

It is disappointing when a patient misses an appointment without providing prior notice. If you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment or no longer require it, we kindly ask that you contact our reception to reschedule or cancel. This allows us to offer the appointment slot to another patient. Please note that patients who fail to attend their appointments may be charged a cancellation fee. Repeated missed appointments may result in the patient no longer being offered further appointments at our practice.

Fees

We are a bulk-billing practice and bulk bill all standard medical consultations for patients with a valid Medicare or DVA card. Some services cannot be bulk billed and will incur private fees (for example, travel immunisations, commercial driver’s license consultations, Workers Compensation, paperwork, etc.). Our reception team will be happy to provide information about the costs of these services.

Referrals & Scripts

In accordance with Medicare guidelines, patients must book an appointment to request referrals or prescriptions. We cannot provide referrals or prescriptions without a scheduled appointment, either as a face-to-face consultation or, where appropriate, a phone consultation for existing patients.

Results

To review your results, please book a follow-up appointment with the referring GP 3–7 days after your pathology tests or investigations. It is your responsibility to attend this follow-up to discuss your results with the doctor.

Recalls & Reminders

As part of our commitment to preventive healthcare, patients may receive reminder letters or messages. Our practice also participates in national reminder systems, including the National Cancer Screening Register and Immunisation Registers. If you prefer not to receive these reminders, please notify our reception team.

Behaviour

Verbal or physical abuse toward our staff will not be tolerated. Patients displaying inappropriate behaviour may be asked to leave the practice. Please note that doctors in this practice do not prescribe Schedule 8 medications to new or existing patients without first obtaining full medical information, relevant specialist recommendations and approval from DDU QLD.

Privacy Policy

Our practice is committed to maintaining the security and confidentiality of your personal health information at all times. A copy of our Privacy Policy is available upon request from our reception team.
